Arabeya Association Hosts 25 Students Hunter College

The Arabeya Association recently had the pleasure of hosting 25 students from Hunter College, the flagship institution of the City University of New York (CUNY) system, as part of an intensive winter study abroad program designed to introduce students to the language, culture, and history of Egypt. Over a period of three weeks, students attended classes in Egyptian Colloquial Arabic, academic lectures targeted in enhancing their knowledge of the region and its history, and participated in many cultural excursions to sites of religious, historic, and cultural significance. These cultural adventures included known sites such as El-Azhar Park, The Pyramids at Giza, Islamic Cairo, and of course, Khan Al Khalili- an outdoor Suuq which boasts over 600 years of tradition. Harvard University's Outreach Program in the Egypt

Ahlan wa Sahlan! Welcome to Harvard University’s Outreach Program, a program Arabeya Association hosts each year in Cairo, Egypt, where university professors and other members of the American academic community are given daily courses in “Survival Arabic” by our staff, in tandem with forays with a member of the Harvard faculty into the Egyptian Community itself, where practical application is employed as the students soak in the cultural diversity and rich history of Egypt. The course itself consists of 6 language orientations, at two hours per session, and each classroom contains up to 15 students from different prestigious American universities and other educational institutions. Welcome to the Arabeya Association’s Study Abroad program! We offer students the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to study the Arabic language while immersing themselves in the culture and history of both modern and ancient Egypt.
